Sally-Ann Llewellyn Artist
So.... a little about me and my work....I graduated with a Fine Art Bachelor of Arts Degree (With Honours) from the University of Reading, Berkshire, UK in 1993.
After graduation I undertook commissioned portraits of people, dogs and horses. I did this along with working full time and raising my two sons here in South Wales.
I live in Port Talbot in South Wales, famous for its Steel Works and Hollywood actors, Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Sheen and many more creatives.I am lucky to live on the seafront of Aberavon Beach. The beach is a magnificent long strip of flat sand that pans out from the drama of the Steel Works cranes right over to the beautiful Swansea Bay and the famous Mumbles, Swansea.
I work from my studio above Queen Street Gallery, Neath (also known as Studio 40). It brings me the much needed solitude to create my work, and to be involved in the gallery community.
My main passion is music, of most genres. It is integral to my work, stirring up feelings, thoughts and ideas. Music influences all of my work as I am constantly listening to it. I can become obsessive about it.
"A painting is music you can see, and music is a painting you can hear" Miles Davies.
I work mainly with acrylic on canvas. My work is currently evolving to a more abstract expression. This means that the materials I use can vary from mixed media, oil paint, house paint, glitter and oil sticks.
Exciting times!!!
